NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs, and similarly-designed programs, are typically 10 week intensive research programs where undergraduate students work in research laboratories and complete a research project.
REU Evaluations
RISE evaluates a number of REU programs on an annual basis to assess student learning and outcomes.
- LAUNCH-UAS REU Program
- BioMaP REU Program
- USM-Chem REU Program
RISE works with the PI for each REU to determine which types of evaluation instruments and strategies would best meet their needs. Common activities include pre-program and post-program surveys, end of program focus groups, surveys of REU mentors, and follow-up surveys. RISE staff analyze yearly data and prepare annual reports.
Evaluation deliverables include annual evaluation reports, as well as survey and focus group instruments and protocols. Timelines for submission of materials and reports are determined by the needs of the individual program.
